Using data from the 1996 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS), this study (1) examines the barriers to care faced by Hispanics, African Americans, Asian Americans, and non-Hispanic whites and whether barriers vary across these groups; (2) examines whether barriers to care vary between privately insured managed care and non–managed care enrollees within each of the four racial/ethnic groups; and (3) describes the socio demographic, insurance, and health status characteristics of families that face barriers.

The goal of this study was to (2) evaluate the fat intake of Latino community members. The goal of this study was to (3) determine where the general majority of study participants eat out and shop for food, and
The goal of this study was to (4) evaluate the quality of the food that the stores most visited sell. In addition, the two community project coordinators were able to build their capacity as skilled community health and nutrition educators and advocates.

Be sure to include the population to be studied, the exclusion and inclusion criteria and data variables to be collected.
