When you sign in under Useful Links you should see Library and Learning Commons. I already have the 5 references that was approved by the instructor to do the annotatated bibliography on and I will send you that. Here are the directions on how she wants it done. Stage 1. All articles must be approved by your instructor. All must relate to the material we cover in this class. All must report on original research. All must address the same research question. Research questions are more specific than topics. For example, child abuse is a topic. There are probably hundreds of research questions that could be asked regarding this topic. Does being abused as a child make one more susceptible to stress as an adult is a research question. Review Chapter 2 of your book and Chapter 1 of the APA manual. Locating appropriate sources. 1. All journal articles must come from FSCJ’s databases. DO NOT USE GOOGLE TO LOCATE ANY ARTICLE. To access the databases, log into Connections, select the Library and Learning Commons, and then enter search terms in the search bar. Be sure to narrow your search to peer-reviewed journals. Give preference to the journals listed your textbook in Chapter 2 (note that some of these journals publish only reviews, or theoretical articles or book reviews). See also the links to sociology, social work, and psychology journals in the \”What is Human Services?\” PowerPoint presentation in this module. DO NOT INCLUDE books, book reviews, review articles, meta-analytic reviews, editorials, or websites. Check the titles of your sources carefully. If an article contains the word “review,” then you should not use it. If the title includes the term meta-analytic review” you should not use it. All articles must be at least 8 pages in length. All must relate to the same narrow focus. For example, suppose that I wanted to find articles relating to the thesis that talk therapy is just as effective as medication in relieving the symptoms of depression, then all articles would specifically mention both of those variables. I would not include articles that focused on talk therapy and cost, or articles that compared two different anti-depressants because these articles have different research questions. Put the list of references in alphabetical order. Keep track of the exact keywords you use to search for your articles. Keep track of the exact databases in which your articles are indexed. For example, an annotated bibliography (for a different class) on teletherapy might focus on its effectiveness for a certain kind of mental health issue. One set of search terms might be “effectiveness of teletherapy for clients with an anxiety disorder.” Another set of search terms might be “online therapy for anxiety disorders.” Please note that the advanced search function may require you to put part of your search terms in quotes. When you locate the article, make a note of the database. 2. Submit your proposed list of articles to the dropbox in Module 3. Pass/not pass. 10 points. You must revise your list if you get a not pass grade. Each revision equals a 2-point deduction. Stage 2: Submit an APA style title page, followed by a references page with the complete reference information for 5 peer-reviewed articles on one of the assigned topics in correct APA style (each entry must be correctly formatted, and the entries should be alphabetical order. Submission link is in Module 3. 40 points You will add the abstract, the annotations and the appendix later. Note: to earn full credit for the title page, the title CANNOT be generic. It must be highly specific and descriptive and based on your research question. This means you will NOT have a title like: “ Annotated Bibliography.” Stage 3. The annotations for each article should: 1. Be in paragraph format. 2. Summarize the main points of the article, which includes the research question, the hypotheses, the methodology, and the major findings. Each annotation should be at least 200 words. 3. Evaluate the article by naming the specific database for the article. It is not enough to say that you used FSCJ databases. You must say which ones. Indicate how many times the article has been cited by others, and describe the importance of the article for psychologists, social workers or human services professionals. Note the affiliations and credentials of the author(s). Do not copy the abstract from the articles! If there is any evidence of cutting and pasting, you will receive a zero for the project with no revision opportunity. I will send you the 5 references, the template, and how another student did theirs. You dont have to do an introduction but she does want an abstract. Please read and follow all directions. Also, please make sure spelling and grammar is correct and no plagiarism.
