This assignment requires students to undertake a analysis of a problem experienced in a business.  You will read the case study below, taking notes of the issues and problems being experienced by the business. You will then work through the remaining stages of the problem analysis as outlined in the template. 

Task Outline

• This is an individual piece of work to be completed separately from your team members.
• You have been assigned to determine the problems occurring at The Grandview Hotel, a fictitious in Australia.  The details of the issues being experienced are documented in the case study below

CASE STUDY (1)

Please read through the entire case study and take note of all the issues/problems being experienced.

• Step 1 of this assignment is for you to classify the issues identified in the case study as either problems or symptoms and to justify your choice with supporting theory.
• Step 2 of this assignment is to select one of the issues that you have identified as being the most problematic and to classify your choice as either structure, semi-structured, unstructured or wicked and justify your choice with relevant theory.
• Step 3 – Using Simon’s Model, identify and evaluate potential solutions for your chosen issue (from Step 2) and select the best possible solution. Reflect on your decision using theory relating to Simon’s Model, personality and decision style.
• Step 4 – Use the template provided to write your 1700 word reflection.

Format

• 1700 words (+/- 10%) not including tables, figures, reference list and appendices. 
• One mark will be deducted for each 200 words (or part thereof) under the minimum or over the maximum word count.
• Submission must be in MS Word format. 
• A minimum of 6 academic references (preferably in addition to course readings) must be used.
• Reference list and in-text references must comply with APA 7 referencing style (See academic integrity section of learnonline site for support with referencing).
• Failure to show competency in the referencing method will result in zero for this component of the assessment.
• You must include a title page with student name, student ID number, course name and appropriate title for your individual reflection.
• Do not include a table of contents for this piece of assessment.

Submission and Extensions

• This assignment must be submitted through learnonline on or before the due date and time
• A standard penalty of 10% per day late will be applied to late submission without approved extensions
• Extensions must be applied for using the Extensions link on the course learnonline page.
• Extensions are not granted automatically
• Extension requests must be supported with appropriate documentation to justify extreme circumstances and are more likely to be approved if you include your current draft of the assignment to show that you have been working on the task.

Academic Integrity

• All assignments are submitted to Turnitin text matching software for analysis
• Student assignments with high similarity indexes may be investigated for breaches of Academic Integrity
• Students who are under investigation for AI breaches will receive a score of zero for the assignment until the investigation is concluded.

Marking and Return

• Assignments will be marked based on the criteria available below
• Assignments will be returned through Gradebook no later than 14 days after the due date
• Late or extended submissions will be returned through Gradebook no later that 14 days after the date of submission
