Discussion Instruction:
Please review the information on National Healthcare Quality and Disparities webpage. Browse through all of the information that is shared under “report files.” Also make sure that you review National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Report Data and ToolsLinks to an external site. page that you can access through the hyperlink on at the bottom of the main National Healthcare Quality and Disparities main page.
Once you navigate to the Report Data and Tools page, please make sure and review the National data and also the data for your home state. Pay special attention to the “Strongest and Weakest” menu options (left hand side.) For this week’s Discussion Forum, you will discuss the findings for your home state and answer the following questions:
- For those measures rated as “strongest” and “weakest,” which surprised you? Why or why not?
- Review “View Underlying Data,” for your state and compare the findings with the national data. Select 3 measures to compare. For each, discuss any difference between the state and national levels. Please discuss any contributing factors to the status of the outcomes (increased or decreased.)
Submission:
Students must post their original response to the Discussion Forum by Day 4, and you have until Day 7 to respond to your two of your classmates. The response should be in a meaningful interactive way to promote an engaging discussion. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth and breadth of your responses.

While examining population health strategies, you will learn how healthcare organizations can enhance patient outcomes and reduce costs through the implementation of preventative care, coordinated services, and targeted interventions.
